For me, life is about the little things…reading a great book near a lake, sipping a beer while chatting with a friend, riding my bike along the Greenway in Minneapolis, making connections with people, being with my family…these are the things that make my life full. I have built my business around just those things. I’m drawn to people who celebrate their lives and community in unique and personal ways and love to photograph them. Through 14 years of practice, exploration and education, I have developed my artistic approach that is rooted in the use of both film and digital. My work has been featured in numerous publications including Minnesota Bride, Wisconsin Bride, Style Me Pretty, A Practical Wedding, I Love Farm Weddings, The Wall Street Journal, City Pages, Vita.mn, Recording Magazine, L’Etoile Magazine and The Minnesota Women’s Press.
Some little things about me:
- My partner, Libby and I have been together for three years. She is the weirdest person I have ever met.
- I am a twin.
- I love really hoppy beer, Surly Furious being my favorite.
- I would happily wander around a farmers market or an independent bookstore all day.
- My brother is a chef and has passionately continued the deep love for food that my mom raised us on. Holidays with my family are my favorite because they cook amazing meals together. Everything centers around the kitchen.
- Traveling nourishes me. I have a deep curiosity about the world and a strong sense of adventure that keeps me from sitting still for too long. I’m pretty sure that Italy and Maine are two of my favorite places, now I just need to visit to be sure I’m right.
- My parents met while working in a record store together in the 70′s and raised us on great soul, r&b, folk and rock music. I have a growing vinyl collection and love to have music listening parties with friends. Otis Redding is my favorite.
- I want my business to be part of a bigger plan of building a strong, sustainable community through relationships, art, social justice, local food and collaboration.
- As a business owner, I believe in voting with my dollars and giving back to my community. I proudly support Minnesota Public Radio, Eastside Food Co-op, Seward Co-op, Peace Coffee, Midtown Farmers Market, REAP Food Group, Human Rights Campaign, Outfront Minnesota the YWCA and many other local businesses.
